Now I'm sure these have all been done to death before, but with so many threads on here it was hard to figure out what had and hadn't been asked so I thought I'd start a new one - sorry.
I currently run TTN5 with GB and US maps on my Axim X51v. I ONLY use TTN for US travel as I have factory nav in the car at home here in the UK.
Now, are the features in TTN6 worth the upgrade of the software, or is it down to personal choice?
Also, if I buy TTN6 and new maps, could I use the new maps with TTN5 if I decided to downgrade later or would I be stuck?
And finally, are there any problems installing TTN6 on a different memory card (as I have done with TTN5) so I don't have to use the original all the time?
Thanks |

You can buy TT6 Maps that will work with TTN5.
In the selection process, choose Navigator 5, Other Device. If you select Axim 51 you will get TTN6 installed.
The drawback is that it's a 958MB download for US and Canada.
As with anything, it's always down to personal choice and preferences. _________________ Richard

What if I buy the TTN6 product (including GB map) and then buy my US maps seperately (like I did with TTN5).
Would the maps I had bought for TTN6 actually work with TTN5 if I ever downgraded or would I need to buy different (TTN5 compatible?) maps at time of purchase? |

WRT TTN5-->TTN6, I don't think it's worth it to waste your upgrade, unless you have problems with 5. Heck, some are still running TTN3.
On my WM2003 with TTN5, I had to soft reboot my 4700 every other day, because the bluetooth stack stopped communicating with the OS. No one else seemed to have this problem, but I did, maybe because when I leave the car I turn off the iPaq without obediently shutting down TomTom. Doesn't matter though... it still hung, so I upgraded. |
