Regular readers of this site will know that we are huge fans of Brodit products. Put simply they are one of the best mounting solutions available and their range is absolutely vast.
I have just received samples of their solution for the fantastic O2 XDA Exec which is my current favourite PDA and it comes as no surprise to find it works perfectly allowing the Exec to be used in both Landscape and Portrait modes with screen open Laptop style or closed PDA style.
For those of you new to Brodit's products, they mate with ProClips, these are car specific clips that fix without requiring holes to be drilled.

Here are a few images taken post install this morning.

Ive got the same brodit holder, and the O2 XDA Exec (jasjar). Also just bought a holux 236 and a 1 GB SD card. Unfortunately I bought the wrong clip, so I had to order a brand new one!
Should have the GPS kit by the weekend and will have pics of the install in my car then.
Darren as for the phone, can you use a bluetooth car kit whilst using a bluetooth GPS Unit?
And what setup/ GPS software do you recommend? |

Yes indeed, I use a BT Headset and BT GPS without problems. TomTom is still my favourite. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Looks good, but I love my current windscreen mount :

Do you know if there is anyway to get the brodit exec holder to connect to my windscreen mount ? |

Indeed there is. Your mount is made by Herbert Richter and uses their 'four pronged' clip system. Brodit have male and female Herbert Richter mounting plates, part no's 202001 & 215058.
I use windscreen mounts including one like yours but they'll never replace a ProClip for my permanent kit, much much better. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Best advice would be to contact the UK Authorised agents Handnav or Nemesis.
I used a Dremmel drill to cut an additional slot in mine for the left hand speaker as none was present, see:
I'm happy to report that I passed this suggestion to Brodit that a slot be added and they replied today to say they agreed and the ideas has been implemented already. Another example of why I hold Brodit's products in high regard. _________________ Darren Griffin |

As i'm in Northern Ireland I dont really have the option of TomTom, need to get something with Navteq maps. I've just ordered On Course GPS with its 640 * 480 rendering.
I'm hoping to use the GPS in car and be able to receive calls through my bluetooth kit. |

Hi guys
welcome to my first post.
I have just sent my XDA Exec back due to constant freezes and was told of a faulty batch.
T Mobile now doing the same pda branded as MDA and obtainable for £20 with an 18 month contract which 9 months are 1/2 price.
But the holder looks good would like to think that the XDA Exec was better than o2's service
I also have a tom tom and really rate it. I also have tomtom on my Nokia 7610 which is excellent for the pocket and was great when in paris apart from tall building area's.
regards

Graham
just remember the unit is a Universal made by HTC in Asia.
So who ever you purchase the kit from is the same.
The units are made exactly the same other than for colour and brand in the same factory.
If you chose o2 you will have better coverage than Tmobile unless you never go outside of city centres.
Tmobile offer some better deals but if you ask the seller to be honest he or she will tell you coverage is nowhere near o2's.
Also Tmobile only have two cities on video calls and they are on a trial basis.
Dont get confused with product because of name as the only difference is the coverage.
Try visiting http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php
You will find all the info you need here.

Hi All,
Ive had a lot of PMs asking me to help with all sorts of Xda Cradles and pro clips.Im scared of over advertising on this great site without seeming to be money grabbing, but to help you all that have asked, you can visit, view images (save uploading lots of pictures) and purchase online the Brodit car kits for execs, Mini s etc from www.dsldevelopments.co.uk
Hope that helps, please PM me or email me if I can advise any more,
Bryson |
