hey all. my friend has the medion 96800 and tried to load several maps to his memory stick , with problems every time. turns out, the 1 gig stick wont work, but the 512 does all the time. the instructions are in german, bu still we cant find any info on whats the biggest card size he can use(512, 1gig, 2gig)

this is a year old now, so maybe there is firmware out there to update for a larger memory card?

any help is appreciated. thanks.

What 1GB card are you using? Are you using the same card as the 512MB card? You are using an SD card, aren't you? Your reference to 'memory stick' has me concerned!

A 1GB SD card should work, but it does depend on the manufacturer of the card. I believe that there are problems with Kingston, and some others too. I have used the Sandisk Ultra II 1GB SD card on mine (£17 on Ebay) with no problems, and have loaded one of the European A, B or C map selections from my E & W Europe DVD with no problems. A 2GB card won't work.

Have you also loaded the mnavdce and autorunce files from your standard CD-ROM? You will need to do this, to get the maps to work. If you need the 5.1 update disk, let me know by PM.

It may be a stupid question, but why are the instructions in German? These units have multiple language selections, and the Adobe Acrobat should come in English! Again, if you need the 5.1 update disc (with English language) let me know by PM.

thanks for the help. ya forget the name memory stick is a different card Embarassed . It is an SD card. What name, I cant recall. He also has a 2 gig card in the package that he would like to try, but wants to know if its us, or the card, or if its not compatible.

the 5.1 update in english. that would be great I am sure. My friend speaks German, but doesnt read too good. (I am a Canadian, Hes American here in Germany. That Explains the instructions and system in German). I dont speak or read Grman well, so trying to help him navigate and upload these maps is a little tough Rolling Eyes
