I've just uninstalled it. I never like programs that take over a function because "they know best". I prefer to do manual updates and everytme I plugged my PDA in up would pop Home. I know you can probably disable that but.......

Is this the only way to install new Tom Tom products now or can you just do it via the PC/USB or bluetooth in the old fashioned way ?

Hi topgazza

I share your view to a degree. I do actually like TT Home as it makes it easy to see which files you have stored where on your PDA i.e. application, maps, voices e.t.c. TT Home is like a glorified version of Windows Explorer but as everything is on one screen without having to scroll up/down to find the right drives/folders it is nicer to use. You can certainly install voices, speedcams or colour schemes the old way so I don't see why you couldn't do TT applications either but I never tried that.

However I fully agree with your view about TT Home popping up everytime you plug your PDA into it's cradle. Mine did the same. As soon as Activesync detected the PDA and synced up, then up came TT Home even when I wasn't doing anything related to TT in any way. I write small software applications and use my PDA as a target device. I therefore have to unplug the PDA from the cradle to test the programs I have written then plug it back in to the cradle to work on the source code a bit more. TT Home popped up everytime. Truly irritating.

Delete the shortcut from the Start/All Programs/startup folder and problem solved. Reboot and the red TT icon in your taskbar should then not appear at all, either coloured in or not. Just manually run TT Home from the Start/All Programs/tomtom shortcut when you want to actually use it.

Keep the application for use with TT but stop it from popping up when you don't want to use your PDA for TT. Good compromise?
