Hi,
I treated myself to a Tomtom 510 just before xmas (and the price drops - doh!) and it came with the map of western europe dvd free. This map won't go on the original tomtom card so I bought a 2gb card, backed up my original tomtom using tomtom home and inserted the 2gb card and restored. Everything was fine so I installed the dvd (only the 900meg file) and when I used it I had to select either the europe or gb map, when i select europe my tomtom speed cameras are not showing, i think this is because they are already registered to the gb map - Should I of wiped the card and started a fresh install instead of 'adding' europe to my gb? Also since adding the 2gb card my tomtom 510 now thinks its a 710 as thats what it is reporting itself as.
The instructions aren't very clear and tomtom still haven't responded to any email contact. Can someone help me? |

The cameras need to go into the map directory so, if they are only in the GB one, they will only show when that map is active. _________________ Tim |

If I have the roads of western europe maps then I wouldn't need the GB map that came with the 510 as the western europe map would cover GB, is that correct? |

Yes, that is correct. However, when navigating round the UK, you may find it preferable to use the GB map so that you don't get offered thousands of foreign place names when specifying a destination.
With regards to speed cameras (assuming you're using the PocketGPSWorld and not TT ones) and other POIs - connect the 510 to your computer and simply copy all the .ov2 and .bmp (and .ogg if using customised voice warnings) files from the GB map folder to the Europe map folder.
You will, of course, have to enable warnings for each category, and specify the distance for each one - plus whether or not you want it to warn only when on route. _________________ Roger

Just remember when you update the speed cameras to copy the updated files into both the GB and Western Europe map folders. That way whenever you switch maps, you will always have the latest GB cameras. (None-GB cameras only need go into the Western Europe map folder.) |
