Help my tomtom 300 has started constantly turning itself off then back on again about every 10seconds as if restarting.
It seems to be only doing this when it acquires a satellite signal. When it does not have a signal it seems to work fine and all the software etc is up to date. Any suggestions?? |

Sounds as if you have too much on the card.
As soon as you get a signal, the GO will try to calculate a route. It needs room for a temporary file to do this. If it runs out of room, it will restart.
Either discard some unneeded voices or buy a bigger SD card and copy your stuff across. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

Thanks for the quick reply, we already have a new sd card for the unit which has 97mb free on it is this enough or does the unit need more? or any ideas if it could be something else fixable.
Thanks

If you have 97MB spare on the card I would try the longer reset, press and hold the reset in for 30 seconds then see what the device does when it powers back up - Mike |

if my computer kept doing that i would assume a hardware fault.. i am inclined to think the same about your tomtom..

Not necessarily. Software faults are *far* more common than 'real' hardware faults these days on PCs...how many times have you heard "My HDD broke!" when in actual fact it was a Registry Error 8)
