Hiya

Apols in advance for my complete lack of knowledge!

I got a Tom Tom One a few weeks ago, and finally decided to have a play with it this morning.

Downloaded SpeedCams stuff with no problems. Downloaded a new voice with no problems.

Put my TomTom Cd into my PC and it prompted me to download updates etc to which i did.

Stupidly i only did my first backup AFTER i'd installed speedcams... anyway. removed the sat nav and went outside (work) for a mess with the voices and alert sounds etc.

The satnav then decided it was going to freeze completely on the screen with the yellow background and pic of the Tomtom... nothing else came up. I then got a pin and pressed reset, firstly for a few seconds, then switched back on and it froze on the picture of the hand. So switched off and reset for 10 secs.

Switched back on and now im getting a screen with the yellow background, the pic of the tomtom and animation of the tomtom hands logo in a blue box with a big red cross flashing through it.

At this point im getting Annnnnngggrrrryyyy!

So, decided to plug it back into USB and see what the tomtom software says. Firstly its saying "an error occured while writing to this file: allowtrip.dat. Its still showing all my stuff (ie, speed cam database) but when removed from USB still wont turn on.

So, then i tries restoring my backup made this morning. It says i havent got enough memory, and to try deleting some stuff. So i deleted some of the speed cam stuff. Some would delete, some wouldnt. Still saying i havent got enough space, im now fuming.

I have no idea what to do.

Can anyone help before i cry?

Huge thanks x

I dont think it is the stuff i downloaded though... it was working fine for a bit... anyway as a precaution i tried deleting the speed cams (as they were the only 'things' i could see on the HOME software then i had initentionally put onto the SD) it let me delete some, but not all.

Dont know what i updated when prompted on the HOME CD.. i just said yes to whatever it asked me Sad

Now it wont let me do anything to the unit or anything to the HOME software... the unit is stuck on the daft screen with the tomtom logo with a big red cross through it, and the HOME software is flashing errors up whenever i try and do anything. Ive tried resetting for 2 secs, 30 secs and 3 flipping minutes and im still getting the same when i switch it on!

Last option is to drain the battery and plug it into its cig lighter charger and try the reset then...but cant do that til i finish work.

Ive spent all day messing with this now, and i can see a sacking on the horizon if i dont get on with some work!!

arrrrgggghhhhh

(plus, my husband is gonna kill me!)

After deleting, have you emptied the Recycle Bin? Some systems create the Bin on the card. So you are only moving the files from one part of the card to another. Not creating more room on the card!

thanks for your advice guys

I got too stressed and pushed my husband into being cheeky and going into Currys and asking for their advice (even though i ordered it online) i was secretly hoping they'd replace it, and low and behold they did!

They wont be too pleased with the broke one when they see i downloaded unofficial software to it me thinks...

Now.... god knows what im gonna do with my new one... dont wanna break that an all!

3rd Party POI's are not 'unofficial software'.

A good idea will be to do a FULL BACKUP right away.;)

Ooops no offence meant! Just thought they mght be a bit arsey about having non-TomTom speed cam stuff on it!

You'll all be pleased to know i backed up my new one straight away (not using the nasty HOME cd though... i'd like to avoid going anywhere near that thing again)

thanks guys xx
