I used to have a garmin i3 but have always wanted a tomtom. I really like the new design of the new ONE and have been waiting for the prices to fall. At the moment though all prices are on a special 20% offer.

I like the thought of bing able to use as a bluetooth hands free kit and would probably also make use of european maps when holidaying abraod with the family.

Question is which one to got for. With discounts and vouchers i reckon the best prices are:

One V1 GB 142
One V1 EUR 188
510 GPS 210
710 Dixons 237
910 PC World 271

The TomTom one devices only connect to a mobile phone for the Plus services and data, they cannot provide hands free for your mobile phone.
Out of the others on your short list:
The 510 has street level mapping of the UK and Major roads of Europe.
The 710 has Street level mapping of Western Europe.
The 910 Has Street level mapping for Europe and USA and the Text to speech system to announce road names/ read out traffic information and text messages from your phone (if compatible - check first)

Thanks Mike, I've done the research and comparisons. My angle is more I would have been happy with the One for a cracking £142 but then keep thinking for the extra £x I could have this or that one due to the discounts available at the moment.

£209 for the 510 includes a free detailed maps of Europe on DVD.

I'm guessing I'll also need the external antenna for £15 due to having a Renault Clio with a coated windscreen.

I would double check this offer, the major roads map (as supplied with the 510) is considerably different to the Street level maps supplied with the 710 (otherwise the devices are identical, it is only the contents of the SD card that differ. If the offer is for full DVD maps at street level detail you will need an additional memory card to use them, as the European country maps are considerably larger than the UK map.

I would try it first without an external aerial, the new TomTom devices are equipped with the SiRF-III GPS receiver, and as such they perform in the most demanding conditions, try before you bother spending any extra for a plug in aerial and more wires strewn across the dash - Mike

Get it in writing that you get the mapping DVD AND product activation card (Save the web page advert as a minimum prior to ordering), at that price I cannot see why they are bothering advertising the 710 if the advert can be believed, and a free remote control thrown in.
You will need an additional memory card to make use of the the European maps, but lets face it they don't cost too much these days - Mike
