I have just downloaded the latest camera database and, as a precaution, decided to back up my SD card. I started the coping process using Windows Explorer, After a few minutes the copy failed with an "unaccessable file" error. On viewing the contents of the SD card I noticed that I have the following:-
/UK and IE plus major roads of WE
/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt folder]
/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt folder]
/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt folder]

/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt file 2,641,641 KB]
/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt file 3,483,510 KB]
/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt file 2,641,641 KB]

/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt file 3,237,170 KB]
/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt file 3,237,170 KB]
/UK and IE plus major roads of WE/[corrupt file 1,123,602 KB] - 32 files!
Where date modified is given there are also some curious dates. Two of the corrupt folders are dated 24/07/2053, one file is dated 27/09/2060 the other files are dated 20/04/2014.
The other folders and files are pretty much as I would expect and, curiously, the unit seeems to work properly.
The unit is a TomTom Go 500 running v 6.15 and the card is a Kingston elite pro 1GB.
Any ideas about how to correct this please? _________________ Colin

Thanks for the response BodgerBaz,
1. Were you using a card reader to create your backup?
Yes, the one built into the PC.
2. Have you tried copying the SD card whilst still in the GO (via the USB cable?)
Yes, I tried that but the corrupt folders and files were still showing.
3. Have you tried backing up using TomTom HOME?
Yes, I have tried this and only two folders were unacceptable - I told HOME to ignore these.
4. Have all the other folders copied across OK?
Yes, all the other foldres seem to be OK
5. If it's only the map folder you have problems with can you copy it back to your SD card from a recent backup?
I'm not too sure about this as I didn't make a backup after buying the latest version of the maps. I do have a backup of my older SD card from before the map upgrade. _________________ Colin
