|
|
Having had the email offer of a reduced price upgrade of my TT5 and UK Map, I followed the instructions for using TT Home and downloaded the upgrades.
TT Home then offered to install to my Ipaq and so I selected the Map, not TT6, and the files were then slowly placed onto its Storage Card. (very slow through the Sync Cradle!)
Checked through explore that the Folder and files were on the card. I had the old UK Map folder, France and the new Folder with files of UK and IE with main roads of Europe.
Fired up TT5 and looked to select the new Map, but it wasn't listed, just France and the old UK Map ???
Any suggestions ??
Cheers

Just to clarify, did your purchase include map and app.? Is your device compatible with TTN6? There are two options to buy; upgrade to TTN6 and new map, or TTN5-compatible new map only. The new map for TTN6 will not work with TTN5. _________________ Tim |

I believed I was buying the upgrade map for TT5, perhaps that is where it has gone wrong. TT Home does the checking and selection for you so it wasn't clear. It offered maps and TT6 for free
I have steered away from TT6 as it may be too much for my RX3715. I just wanted up to date maps.
Is there any way I can check?

If you have HOME and that's what you used to install the map, you have TTN6, too. You wouldn't get HOME or TTN6 with just the TTN5-compatible maps. Those maps install the 'old' way. Did you but from TomTom's website? _________________ Tim |

I downlaoded a map of a section of the US after reading on there website that maps where compatible with ver 5 and above. I was using ver5. After it wouldn't showup in TT I called support who informed me that the map wasn't compatible with 5. Two days later I got an email saying that the map I wanted was now available from a link they provided. But like you I also got ver 6 with the download so installed it and it works fine on a Palm TX along with the new map I had downloaded.

Thanks Bill,
I have just rung TT and they say backup and delete the old map, then I should be able to register and use the new one.
However I am just about to do a short trip to France and I want TT working.
I will postpone any changes until I am back!

|

I have the same sort of problem - running TomTom 5 on mio 168.
Ordered TomTom5 maps - which it said came with a free Version 6 - which I didn't download as I believe doesn't work on the Mio 168. The new map was installed to the Mio 168 via TomTom Home, no problem. But it still brings up the old GB map and if you try Prefs-change map it only shows the old new GB. Can you help, please. |

TTN6 does work very well with Mio168 along with latest maps v660, if you have original Firmware then you will lose landscape mode, but the mio168 firmware can upgraded to win mobile 2003se which gives you back landscape mode and even better because one of the buttons can be configured to switch |

Has anyone managed to get the backlight to go off on a MIO168 with the newer firmware and TTN6? I use mine on battery power when out on the bike and since the upgrade the backlight stays on and the battery life is much reduced. |
