|
|
Having just installed Maps of Western Europe, I am sure when initially searching for a postcode to navigate too, I selected the “Address” icon and was then presented with a screen allowing me to choose between “City Centre”, “Street and house number”, Crossing or intersection”, or “postcode”
When selecting “postcode” I am sure I was then given the option to select either a UK or Netherlands postcode.
Well can I find that screen again !
I just seem to go straight into the UK selection screen (where you input the 6 digit code) There appears no way of inputting the 4 digit and 2 letter Netherlands code.
Am I having a senior moment or is there a problem here?

I think I read that you now have to be "in" the Netherlands before it expects an NL postcode. |

So you can't do advanced planning in the Netherlands using postcodes – It seems a bit strange that you can’t have a sub menu, UK or Netherlands postcodes.
I am still sure that I did get that option when I first loaded the new maps. Am I going mad? I tell you what I did do before loosing what I imagined I saw, I loaded safety cameras onto the MOWE maps. Could that have had any effect?

At the bottom of the Virtual Device Screen is Set Current Position.;) _________________ Richard

Hang on Guys; this doesn’t make any sense at all.
If you had a sub menu for post codes, UK or Netherlands backed up by a different search criteria, (which I am sure I saw) then why can’t you find a Netherlands postcode whilst in the UK.
I can’t believe you have to pretend you are in the Netherlands to find a postcode

Thanks for the confirmation, Mike.
Sounds like yet another of TomTom's "improvements" that haven't been thought through properly....
So you can't navigate from France to a postcode in the UK either?
What a stunning software development team! |

When using HOME to do Advanced Planning, and you set your Current Location in France, and you choose to Navigate to a Postcode, you are given the Option to Select either of the Postcode Files. This applies to any Country except the Netherlands or GB. _________________ Richard

This is really dumb. As someone who regularly drives between the UK and the Netherlands it is very frustrating to have a post code to aim for, only for you not to be able to aim for it! Being able to advance plan using Home is no substitute for a device to do what it says on the box! |

Is it a practical problem though?
If you are going to the Netherlands from the UK, simply set the Chunnel or ferry terminal as a destination. Either way, once you cross the channel, you can put in your Netherlands destination, and on the other side, Netherlands postcodes are available.
Similarly, to anywhere in the UK you will have to go via a ferry or tunnel crossing, and on this side, you can then put in your UK postcode.
I agree it's a retrograde step, but in practice it isn't going to cause much of a problem. |
