Make sure you have properly exited TomTom Navigator before trying to sync it. Go into the Navigator screen, and tap anywhere, then go More (twice) then tap the EXIT button.
If you are unsure if it has exited and not running in background memory, perform a soft reset, then try connecting it to ActiveSync.
If the latter works, you may want to get yourself a good task manager. Pocket PC apps when you tap the normal X at the top right don't usually close, they just sit in background memory until another app needs the memory. |

when i first instaled tt the gps reciever did not work (rikaline 6012)so instaled gps dash to see if that will pick up any gps movements,no good so i deleted it and re instaled it over the top now the shortcut to tt dont work.
tryed reciever on nmea 0183v2 4800/9600/19200/38400 but no movement at all.
please help.as i dont know what to do.
what does a soft reset leave me with, just the basic programs?
if it needs a soft/hard reset can you tell what to do as my ipaq is second hand and i have no manual.
thanks again. |

A soft reset is just like pressing the reset button on a PC or powering it off and on again. It might be an idea to do this and you can do so by pressing the stylus into the soft reset hole, sometimes it's on the base of the iPAQ and sometimes on the back (depending on which model you have).
Uninstalling GPS Dash shouldn't cause problems with TomTom, but you never know. If TomTom is working but you are just not receiving signal then it's possibly more down to the GPS Receiver.
Easiest way to diagnose would be to follow this article http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/winfastnavigatorppc.php |

What model iPAQ do you have as the procedure for performing a hard reset difers between models? _________________ Darren Griffin |

You should be connecting on COM1 and the baud rate really depends on what is required by the receiver. Normally this is 4800 but it may differ between GPS Receivers. If you still can't get a connection then it's probably the GPS at fault, in which case I would return it for a replacement.
Many have reported problems with the 6012 and had it replaced with a 6010 or another GPS and found this has worked. I'm not too sure what the difference is on the 6012 that may be causing problems, but we will see if we can get a 6012 in for review. |
