Hi

Im trying to decide if to get a Tom Tom one or a Tom Tom go 510....

Is the only difference being the tmc on the 510? Can I buy a TMC unit for the Tom tom one? Doesnt the one have traffic updates anyway via your mobile? Also if I went to get the 510, does it cost anything per month for the tmc anyway?

Cheers

If you use GPRS for Traffic information there is a cost associated, firstly there is a subscription charge for the GPRS traffic service, secondly you will be charged by your phone provider for information downloaded to your device (be very carefull with these charges as internet access can be very expensive on some networks).

The RDS TMC is free to use once purchased, there are no associated running costs, to use RDS TMC the 510 needs to be connected to an add on module which is additional cost.

The TomTom One will only accept traffic data via GPRS, whereas the 510 can accept traffic data via GPRS or the RDS-TMC unit (if connected), the reception in the UK is not too good though to be honest for the RDS-TMC, the GPRS Traffic information via the mobile phone is better in terms of connection and reliability - Mike
