Hi,
I just asked TomTom support about London congestion charge extension.
Will there be any update, their answer is astonishing:
Dear Mr./Ms Mabille,
Thank you for your e-mail
We do our best to keep up with the ways road change .
However we are in the middle of a map upgrade program as we speak and you are free to purchase any maps you wish.
The upgrade takes place once a year so I guess you will get a chance to buy the updated maps sometime next year.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
So basicallly... at least a year before getting the new congestion charge zone included! How deceiving.
I don't know what is happening with TomTom support lately, but I had another issue recently were they totally ignore my question (I have a problem installing the maps upgrade on my hp1940 navigator 5, they kept answering 3 times navigator 6 is not compatible, which I knew and was not my question!)
I was used to good service but it seems to be going down lately. |

What I was hoping for is to be able to calculate a route avoiding the zone, as it's possible with the current one. Obviously that won't be an option in the near future. |

That's the one they 'acquired' from me, via icsys's Navman POI website. I'm working on a new one which will probably appear all over the place again, no doubt stripped of the text file which is meant to accompany the POI file - you know, the one wth the Copyright information. _________________ Tim |

I find this a bit of a rip off because I don't want to purchase the full new map I just want to be able to punch where I'm going & avoid the congestion, I hope maybe Tom tom will supply an update just for this ? |

Why should they? It was right when that map was produced.
However, now they have produced the new map and it isn't on there, and isn't likely to be sorted for at least another year IS disgusting. |

Technically true, but surely it wouldn't be that difficult to patch their existing maps.
If it were just a minor road change out of thousands that are made every year then fair enough, but the Congestion Charge is a serious business - stray in there by mistake and you get hit with a £100 fine.
I've said many times before that the sat nav manufacturers (all of them, not just TomTom) and map providers have to buck up their ideas, this is a prime example. _________________ Gone fishing! |
