In the process of selling my 510 and buying the Navman F20, can someone help me with these questions -

It seems like an upgrade (F20 - full postcode search, petrol/parking buttons) - am i right?

Will my 510 desktop software work with the F20 (theres no software/cable supplied with the F20)?

Hi
Apart from the new SiRFstarIII™ GPS receiver. I cannot see any difference, you will have to purchase all the add on bits. For £149 + add on’s, you can get the latest software (smartST 2006) for your 510 when it’s released this month (I hope), the last lot cost £90 ish, so hoping it will be a similar price. Apart from the buttons for petrol or parking, a few taps of the screen will do the same thing on your 510. Only benefit is that it will take T1.
Regards
DRP

Thanks for the reply DRP. You have persuaded me not to buy the F20 but I would still like the full postcode search facility. Theres an ebay seller offering 7 digit postcode search for the 510 using POI (£18.50 on a 1GB card)? I've no idea how/if this would work, any thoughts? In your opinion whats the cheapest option for me.
Again, thanks from one welshman to another.

The F20 would neither work with your 510 desktop SW, nor it comes with a Windows desktop for F20. The F20 is not based on WinCE, so ActiveX doesn't work here. There will be a separate PC connectivity kit offered for he F20 to finally exchange data between the PC and the F20.

Some more differences:

- the F20 is supporting TMC via the optional T1 traffic kit (not possible for 510)
- the F20 is using the same navigation core functionality as the Nxx series (e.g. improved guidance functionality, signpost guidance, post code search, ...)
- there will be new maps offered for the 510 in the very near future, yes, but not the improved navigation functionality as above

/Ulrich

the F20 is a great unit.
It offers newer mapping, newer software, pre-loaded speen cams, petrol/ parking buttons, better screen, pre-loaded maps so no need for sd card problems, 8 digit post code, newer sirfstar III reciever

on th 15th dec when the conectivity kit becomes available for around £20 you could then: update the speed cams, use custom poi`s, update software,

the Freedom range ( that is what the f stands for ) is just that buy plug in and go.
