Black & White Legend to Color PDA

Great Website. Here goes with my first post .....

I use my Etrex Legend for backpacking and am thinking of buying the MapSource Metro software so I can use the GPS on the streets. (The basemap doesn't provide much detail). (FYI - I use the topo MapSource software for backpacking).

Since I am ready for a new cellphone, I learned I can link my GPS to it as noted below.

QUESTION: Since my GPS is black & white, will the maps show up as black & while on the color screen on the Smartphone?

Welcome to the forums.

The GPS device will only send the position to the Smartphone, not the map. You need a separate mapping program on the smartphone, and that will be able to use any type of scanned maps, either b/w or colors.
