Hi all,
I've just bought the Navman 3450 for my Ipaq 3970 and the GPS function is not working.
The installation went well, but when I use it I see always in the bottom "waiting for GPS" and when I go to GPS status, the screen is showing me always 0 satellite (even after 1 hour in the middle of the garden). But in this screen I have on the top the field saying that the system is linked correctly (COM6: Navman IPAQ GPS).
I have updated the version of Smart ST Professional to SP2 (1.91.0045) and I have added the latest serial driver from the Navman US website.
I aso installed Win Fast Navigator (from Leadtech) to see what was coming from the GPS. From there I've seen that data are coming every 2 seconds, but the data concerning the localisation are always empty.
So I don't know what to do anymore
Do you have experienced the same problem?
do you have some ideas of what I can try next?
Is there a Navman support in UK?
Thanks in advance for your help. _________________ Electra3 |

Usually the 3450 sleeves are much better than the older 3000 and 3400 sleeves which did have major problems receiving a fix. If you are seeing data coming through in WinFast Navigator, then the receiver is receiving data fromt eh satellites, but it may not be receiving enough to obtain a fix. When in WinFast Navigator, if you leave it for 15 mins, on the Navigation screen, do you get any green circles ? Or are they all red or blue ?
It could be that the sleeve is in factory mode and requires a full factory fix, but even then this should only take 12.5 mins on a clean run.
It might be an idea to contact Navman Support, they have a contact page at http://www.navman-mobile.com as it might be a dodgy sleeve. |

Hi,
I have a somewhat similar situation: I just bought (secondhand) a 4 month old 3450 and iPAQ 5450 and just cannot get the 3450 to fix at all.
Watching the GPS-status screen I notice some satellites being received (up to 10) but only once in a week did I get a fix. This fix was not very reliable and kept dropping out.
When I received the set I immidiately upgraded the 3450 ROM and also the SmartST to SP2. In this forum I have seen some doubt as to whether the SP2 should be used on Win2003 only. I therefore reloaded the software to the SP1 that came with the unit. But still no luck.
I have also seen some sugestions as to turn off the IRDA (how do I do that ?) - but is this actually necessary ?
The cold facts remain: I really do not know what to do now

Hi,
Thanks for your help.
I have upgraded the firmware, and from the quick test I've done it seems the GPS is now working.
I will test it more in detail during te week end, but I already managed to have a fix which is great.
