|
|
Hi,
I have purchased a TomTom GO710 and would like to change the splash screen. Have read all your posts, and am a little confused. In my GO directory, the only splash screen shown is a file called .. splashw.bmp ..., and it's dimensions are 480 x 272 pixels and is 382kb in size.
So do I still follow the instructions given here in the forum, and then replace the original splashw.bmp file with my new file after re-naming it splash.bmp?
Also, has anyone by chance done a splash screen with the red/white Lion Holden car emblem (in Australia)?
Appreciate any replies, guys
Thanks

Hi, Cazmar,
Tried that, but it didn't seem to do anything. Just left me with no Splash Screen at all. So I replaced it with the original.
The program seems to have done all the right things and re-sized it to 240 x 320, but my original splash screen shows 480 x 272.
So I'm still confused
Thanks, anyway, and appreciate your reply.

Hi,
The original GO series uses a file called splash.bmp whereas the newer GO x10 series uses a file called splashw.bmp because it is a wide-screen version.
Similarly, with the latest upgrade you now have a suspend.bmp (for the GO) and a suspendw.bmp for the GO x10 series.
So, if you are using a 510 wide-screen version the splash and suspend files will be 480 x 272 pixels. |

. . . . sorry missed the bit about the logo. Having never seen a Holden car I'm not sure exactly what you are after.
However, go into Google | Images and type Holden car logo and it'll bring up loads.

Hi, Bodger,
Many thanks for that.....I now understand why the file sizes were different.
Also, in the automatic 'Splash Generator', I picked the wrong model of TomTom. At it didn't show a 710 model, I went for the next best which was the 700............should've gone for the 910 which has the same screen size as the 710.
I've already found the Holden logo, so I'll give it another shot now.
Again, appreciate your help.
Cheers
