|
|
Hello there,
I have a question that noone has been able to answer for me with any certainty...
I got myself a new Mio H610. It is perfect for what I need it for really. and I am pretty happy with its performance till now. However I want to get an SD card for it. I am interested for a 4Gb SD card, but my problem is that even though the box mentions 2Gb SD card compatibility, practically every single review I've seen on it (and I've read them pretty much all) says that "it can take a 4Gb SD card". However this seemed more of a "pretty sure it can do it, but I can't be bothered to try it" than anything else as noone gave any definitive info on that.
Can anyone verify that it, indeed, supports 4Gb SD cards, and if it does, which ones did they try it with? I am asking in order to make sure that I get the same ones to avoid compatibility problems.
Thank you in advance |

Hi ews,
The Mio H610 is definitely compatible with 4GB SD cards. The speaker quality for MP3s is very decent too.
Hope that helps. _________________ www.easydevices.co.uk

Hello there, and thanks for your reply :D
If I may ask, are there any specific ones you tried which worked? Cause I emailed 2 different suppliers and they told me that I better stick with 2Gb ones because they 4Gb ones might not be supported.
If I'm not mistaken the H610 is based on windows CE, and from what I read windows CE only supports the FAT16 filesystem, which in turn means it could only address up to 2Gb of space. That's all in theory of course, so I don't really know which is the case here. If someone has indeed tried it with a 4Gb SD card, could you please post your results?
I'm just very confused from the fact that the box and 2 suppliers told me it does not support them (again not definively), and that most reviewers mention it does. All the information on the subject appears to be really vague... I just need to verify that for sure, before investing money I could really use elsewhere on something that does not work
I hope you understand.
All the best |

Hi,
We've tried several different brands of 4GB cards with the Mio H610. Just make sure you don't buy an SD V2.0 HC card as these won't work. You should be fine with any V1.1 card though.
Feel free to PM if you want more information. _________________ www.easydevices.co.uk

I would like to thank Easydevices and Simon in particular for being so helpful. They went beyond the "call of duty" and actually tested it out for me, even loading the card with data to make sure.
I will be ordering one of those cards very soon, and I will post here with news when I receive it (waiting for the next paycheck).
Thanks again for your excellent service, and may I add, let's hope it will be an example for other companies to follow as well. |
