Can someone please answer me to as why there have been SO many pocketgps speed camera releases?
I'm not complaining, it's just I think it would be much better if there was just one per month like there used to be.
I can't be doing with updating my tomtom one/910 everyday other week.

| Many members asked for more regular updates.

Personally I do them each time they come out, after all, it's only the .ov2 files you have to worry about, the .bmps are already on your device. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

One thing about the more frequent releases, I am now so proficient at at applying the updated files, that now I actually spend far less time in total doing it!
Since each relase contains ALL the data, I can see no reason to reduce the frequency - in fact, the more frequent the better. As Lost_Property says - You have the choice as to how often you apply the updates. |

Its a "no brainer"...
lydiachris - There's absolutely nothing to stop you updating once a month like you always did, the results will be exactly the same for you.
But most people will appreciate more frequent updates. |

as weird as it sounds, more frequent releases actually means a lot less processing at the database end of things.
picture the scene.
30th september: camera release
1st october: new roadworks on M62 with loads of new specs camera's
2nd - 10th october: 100 submissions for the new specs cameras
11th - 20th october: a further 100 submissions for the new specs cameras
21st - 30th october: a further 100 submissions for the new specs cameras
31st october: camera release
that's over 300 submissions for the same camera's that need to be sorted through before the next update.
now, if there was a release on the 11th october that incorporated the new specs then that cuts out the further 200 submissions...
ditto for remvals of roadwork camera's
that's why i prefer to try do them around every 10 days or so.

If it cuts down the work and provides more upto date information for the users then great idea. Ten out Ten for the sterling work so far!
At the end of the day if its too much effort for a user to keep their unit updated every ten days simply update the satnav once per month, but bear in mind you willhave out of date information loaded compared to thouse that take the update each time it is offered - Mike |
