|
|
Hi,
I bought a TomTom One v2 (UK) yesterday (16th). I installed the software, applied an update using the Home software, then unplugged it (after using the eject button in Home).
I then powered it on, set up my home address, and powered it off.
Now, it won't turn on at all. If you plug the USB lead in, the light goes green, but no response to pressing the power button. I've tried holding it down for 20secs as well. I have also tried the reset button - still no luck.
Fortunatly I bought it retail, so shouldn't have to wait weeks for a replacement, but is there anything I can check before taking it back?
Putting the card in a memory card reader works fine (and oddly enough the TomTom software recognizes it). It's just the device that won't power on.
Thanks,
Chris. |

have you tried leaving it plugged in a while as the battery may be too low to power it on?
just a thought............... |

Thanks for the reply
It has been plugged in for around 20mins now, and wasn't used since I charged it last night.
Even if it were the battery, surely it would start up when still plugged in? I'll leave it plugged in for now, but I would have thought 20mins would be enough to get enough charge to start up.

Try pressing and holding the reset button for 30 seconds then see if it will power up, I have known this to fix other devices - Mike |

Thanks. Was getting slightly annoyed at my £180 paper weight.

Glad to hear the "Paper Weight" has sprung to life, the 30 seconds reset trick often fixes these sort of problems - carry a "reset" tool (paper clip/ pin) with you or in the car just in case it happens again - it probably won't, but being prepared isn't a bad thing - Mike |
