I have just purchased a Garmin C510 from a company called Handtec, the price was £175 inc VAT but what they offered was a FREE download of the speed camera, it seems a good deal however when they send the download you have got to register with Pocket Gps world and purchase the system from them, so it is not a FREE download, mike who monitors this site has been a great help in trying to resolve this but the download they send is not a full file, so be aware, dont get sucked up like me.
Rolling On.

I guess the "Free Speed Camera Database" is a fairly eyecatching selling point - people don't realise that a month's subscription can be had for £2.
I guess you could ask for and maybe get your £2 back but that's not the point - it's the principle that matters here. Regardless of if it was £2 or £20, the customer should get what the retailer advertised.
Anyway, to the forums reddog6, I hope it's all sorted eventually if not already... :D _________________ Gone fishing! |

Have a look at this thread. It implies that this is being done with the full knowledge of the PocketGPSTeam. MaFt, maybe you could have a word with MikeB to get them to clarify their wording? _________________ Jock

Would it be better to know rather than have an impression? It appears that, at the very least, there may be some "misdescription" involved in that Handtec appear to be offering something for free that is owned by this site. I would be very disapointed if this site condoned such misdescription, and would hope that you would want to investigate and get it changed, for the sake of your good name. _________________ Peter

I don't think anything underhand is going on here - according to Handtec, "All this is done with prior arrangement with PocketGPS."
It could probably do with clarification if people are coming here and can't figure out how to get their copy of the camera database though. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Certain retailers may with our permission offer an initial install of the database free with new hardware. The conditions are that the database is either pre-installed or otherwise supplied with the unit and whilst emailing it isn't precluded it's not what we intended. Additionally they are supposed to include information on our subscription service and details of where to come to join and get subsequent updates.
If this is not the case we would like to know and will take this up directly with any supplier not abiding by our terms. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I saw a couple of adverts on the net for this site saying free download of speed camera software.
For the sake of £2, I couldn't even be bothered arguing. What can you get for £2 these days?
If that £2 keeps your licence (I have got 9 points), would you complain about £2?!?!?!?!
Jeez, some people |
