About to tke the plunge

I have had a TTG classic since its launch back in 2004 i think it was, and it has performed well, no problems at all, but now wanting to do a couple of motoring holidays in Europe & the USA.
I'm considering buying the TTG 910 but have held off buying straight after it's launch so any glitches with the unit are resolved, ie the well documented mount problem etc.
Before I take the plunge and splash out £400, can you very knowledgeable folk tell me of any outstanding issues still to be resolved.
Also, do you think that all the current stock in Currys, Comet etc will have have the modified mount.
