Works fine (I still have a 3630 and use it every day). You can use GPS Mice or a GPS Jacket solution, CF even if you have a dual CF or dual PCMCIA Jacket.

Only caveat is that Navman's SmartST doesn't run well on 32MB iPAQ's such as the 3630. TomTom Navigator 1 & 2 runs perfectly as do many others.

Hi,
I also have an IPAQ 3630, but I'm concerned about the memory needed for software / maps.

With 32mb of storage, if I got a CF GPS system - I've already got a CF sleeve which I use either for extra storage or for my wireless card - can the maps / software be stored on the CF GPS card itself?

Or will I need to get a dual CF card sleeve?

It's not an ideal CF-GPS Solution that's true, but it works fine with a GPS Jacket or a GPS Mouse and CF-Jacket.

If you are intent on using a CF-GPS then you'd need a dual PCMCIA Sleeve with PCMCIA-CF adapters in the slots as I don't think a dual-CF sleeve exists. The upside is this sleeve has an additional battery which would give you double the run time but it's not a cheap option. By the time you've costed that it may be time to consider upgrading!

Hi Darren,
I agree that upgrading would probably be cheaper than investing any further in my IPAQ 3630.

I now need to convince my wife that I need GPS.

My wife was a non-believer until I lent it to her for a trip into unfamiliar territory! She now loves them, when we drove through France last year she relished not having to map read, no arguments, what more encouragement does she need Wink
