Hello,

My question is not specifically related to the PocketGPS Speed Camera Database, but I'm posting it here anyway since most of the users here should have discovered this problem.

So, here we go:
Has anyone here figured out a way to recieve POI warnings in TomTom ONLY for cameras appearing in your driving direction? In POI-Warner there is an option called 'Detection in driving direction', where you can specify a detection angle. I'm wondering if this feature, with a bit of finetuning, could be used for acheiving a better result. But does the camera database also need to be created in a way that aids this functionality better? What I mean is that the POI for a camera might need to be placed a few meters beside the road instead of directly ON the road to tell the navigation system in which driving direction the warning shall be triggered.

Hope someone has an idea how to solve this, because I find it quite annoying to receive warnings for cameras on the wrong side of the road.

Cheers

Many of us also would prefer not to get warnings when cameras are not on our side. They sometimes even warn when not on our actual route. But "directional" is not available with Tom Tom units. The best you can get is when the camera is positioned on one side of a dual carriageway and TT treats this side as one road, the other side as another road. Sad, but less of a worry than not getting ANY warnings Sad
