Hi
I got a new Navman 3450 for Christmas. However I have an Ipaq 5450 with Pocket PC 2003. I religiously followed installation instructions and then went about going to the link that Navman said to go to for updates. The link was broken. Anyway, I found the updates and installed the 3.1.6 driver but....evrytime I try to install the SP2 upgrade I get an Error 1000 message saying that my Ipaq cannot be detected and is activesync running.. The Ipaq and activesync are both fine, it seems that I just cannot do anything to install the service pack, which given the fact that it is for my hardware and OS is really frustrating (knew I should have got TomTom)...has anyone had this problem ?? Can anyone help ?? I hope so.

This is a guess - but it could be yet another program that's incompatible with ActiveSync 3.7.1? If so, the only answer is to downgrade to ActiveSync 3.7, which is, by all accounts, not the easiest thing to do. At the very least you need to completely uninstall ActiveSync - but it seems as if that may not be enough to downgrade successfully.
I'm intending to try this myself due to AudibleReader being incompatible with ActiveSync 3.7.1. I'll post somewhere in the forums if I do try it.
If you're not running ActiveSync 3.7.1, that's obviously not the problem. I would, however, recommend not upgrading to 3.7.1 at this time.

It is indeed the dreaded ActiveSync 3.7.1 issue. Coincidentally I assisted a user via email this weekend with the very same issue and by a process of elimination we discovered that 3.7.1 was the cause.
You need to uninstall 3.7.1, thoroughly remove any remaining 3.7.1 detritus (there is a forum thread on this somwehere!), reboot your computer then click on the link here to install 3.7.0. Click here to download ActiveSync 3.7.0. _________________ Darren Griffin

The downgrade thread is here. I've just posted some more information there that should help those contemplating a downgrade.

Yay! You guys are great. I was just about ready to through it out the car window as wel. Have removed MS ASync and reinstalled 3.7 and issue was resolved straight away. Thanks for being far quicker than Navmans support. |
