Why doesn't my C510 "see" France and Germany

When I did the update to V3.2, the process hung when downloading France and Germany maps (held on 2 Gb SD card). The files were only partially downloaded and much smaller than the originals. Consequently Miomap did not recognise these maps and I had to re-install the old maps off the CD - I did it straight to the SD card using a card reader.

Having determined the location of the new France and Germany maps on the Miotech website, I downloaded those as separate files and copied them over to the SD card. For some reason these "new" maps are not recognised by my device either, so I had to re-copy the old ones again.

Why am I getting this problem? I can only assume that there is some problem with the new maps. In any event, what am I going to lose by sticking with the old, though functional, maps off the CD?

The Update program does not flag up that I need new maps - Do I have to delete them possibly?
