I just use the plain "gatso" warning for 20 mph. Make a copy and rename it.

Ask a silly question - I have the OV2 files, the BMP files and the OGG files all named the same on my TTOne:

pocketgpsworld_gatso_30.ov2
pocketgpsworld_gatso_30.bmp
pocketgpsworld_gatso_30.ogg

what POI alert setting do I have to set on the actual device. At the moment I have "Polite 2" set. At present it still just gives me the gentle "bongs" sound as usual.

Providing you have named all the other ogg files to their corresponding ov2 and bmp files then it should be simple to ensure they are set up.

Switch unit on select change preferences, warn when near poi, scroll down and select the first camera poi, (if all ready assigned a warning message will come up) select no, enter the distance (or just leave the distance offered) for the poi to sound warning message, no option to assign a sound should be available as it is automaticaly assined with the ogg file, finally warn if on route suggest you don't tick the box then the alarms will sound when you are not using the device in navigation mode.

Do the same for all cameras to ensure they are correctly assigned in the future you only need to copy over the updated ov2 files when they are available.

In other words, if you are still getting the option to choose a sound, then the .ogg files have not been recognised for some reason.
If the .ogg files are correct, the Go simply skips that page of the set-up.

I have a GO510 but the principal is the same.

I created my ogg files as described elsewhere and I wasn't asked to pick a sound when setting the distance so was happy to believe that everything was correct.

However, when I approached some of the 'mobile' locations I heard the 'Bell 2' sound immediately followed by the "Mobile 30" spoken sound. I nearly jumped out of my skin as I wasn't expecting it. Later, I heard the 'Bell 3' sound immediately followed by "Mobile 40" spoken sound. Most of the Mobile POIs are the same except that sometimes the Mobile 30 actually said "Mobile 30" whereas other times it said 'Bell2' - "Mobile 30"

When I got home I experimented with 'driving' to my closest Mobiles and it worked perfectly. Following day went past different Mobiles and the same thing happened. Fortunately, I've now downloaded the latest Data.Chk file and have manually reset them all.

I've played all the ogg files on my PC and they all sound correct so I'm not really sure what's going on here.

Sounds like you've got two instances of the database running at once to me...

Just for info, when I went through the setup as describe I correctly DID NOT get the question of which sound to play, so it must have recognised the OGG file, need to go on a road trip past my local GATSO to test. However it did still ask for the 20MPH camera as I didnt have an OGG file for that.

Fingers crossed & thanks all for the help.

David, isn't there a simple "Gatso" voice you can use for 20mph?
Also, don't forget you can run a demo of a route past a camera or two, rather than having to really go for a drive.

From what I understand (so feel free to correct or expand)

If the matching .ogg file is present when you set a POI to warn - this will be used. You will not even be offered the option to select an alternative.

However, if the POI was set to warn before the matching .ogg file was present, the POI warning must first be de-selected, and then re-set.

Andy, yes, I think there is, if not I'll get one of the standard ones and just copy it to the correct name and/or trancate the speed off the end. It was more the fact that it behaved as had been described.....the OGG file was missing, so it gave me the option of selecting the sound, for all others it didn't.

Neil, thanks for the heads up, will check tonight when I take it on a demo route.

Thanks to all

Tried a demo route, it works perfectly, giving me the verb al alerts at the speed cameras.

Interestingly, it only gives you the verabl directions and alerts when you run the demo at 100% speed.

Thanks to all for the assistance

Hi Neil,

Yes I had similar thoughts and tried this but it made no difference. What is wierd is that passing some Mobile 30 POIs it actually said "Mobile 30" whereas other Mobile 30 locations it said 'Bell2' - "Mobile 30".

Might be some corruption somewhere? I'll be fine now until the database is upgraded again. This might spur me to try again at the dreaded ogg thing Wink
