In my case, there was a camera, distance to the camera and the speed I was doing - shouldn't this last one be the speed limit? If so, why didn't mine show it? |

we seem to have lost the speed limit!
One thing that i've been wondering about though - does the green speed text turn red when you're over the limit? Anyone care to test it
I suggested a feature similar to this to alk a while ago, maybe they do listen |

In short,the answer is no,if your going over the posted speed-limit,no pretty colour change.........
personally I'd prefer to have the speed limit posted,and not your current GPS speed.It's all too easy to get fixated on the warning screen.....
Glad someone else has got this issue,thought it was me........

From the two replies above I am still not sure what should be displayed on the safety camera alert - Speed limit or current speed? Do I still need to fiddle with the ov2 file i.i. change "@" to "AT"? |

In the styles config file there are entries for SafetyCameraAlertText Black, green and red. This led me to believe that the text should change to red at some time but apparantly it doesn't. |

Hi Guys,
If you don't import the Safetey Cam data as OV2 files,and go for the "Old" fashoned way of importing them via the Custom POI,you'll still get the warnings,but no sounds,and the background is a white one,so go figure........
I suppose in the styles.cfg file you could change the notification to any colour you like,just like you can with the road types.......
Interesting thing about the new warning system,is that your Car speedo will be telling you one thing,and the GPS/Warning screen another.Car one over-reads,GPS one under-reads,and with all this going on "In Cockpit",don't forget to look outside! |

A screenshot in ALK's June newsletter shows the speed limit (30) under the camera icon in the yellow box.
Does anyone actually have this displayed - e.g. on the phone version? |

I doubt that the GPS 'speedo' under-reads. At high(ish) speeds, there is still only one mph different between the two on my BMW, and I've always thought the GPS one must be pretty accurate. _________________ Ian

Thanks neil01.
I still have faith in ALK and believe they will issue a fix asap. |

Hopefully, what we have now is just the start of a fully featured and configurable sub system. Now that they have taken the step of separating safety cameras from the other POIs, there is real potential. |

From the ALK newsletter, it would appear that the yellow box should show both the speed of the camera, and your current speed.
I had a reply a few days ago (but it took me a while to find this post to add it to!)
ALK say:
We are currently looking into this at the present moment.
PS while talking with ALK I suggested that it might be a good idea, if rather than showing the standard GATSO icon, the matching bmp to the camera being warned might be appropriate, as this would alow the camera type to be represented. I also suggested that 'flashing' the icon on the map for the camera being warned, like TomTom does would be useful. |

I have just managed to work out why your current speed is not displayed in Red as per the ALK newsletter:
If you look in styles.cfg (and nightstyles.cfg) there is an entry:
[Basic\SafetyCameraAlertText]
"FontColor"="RED"
etc.
If the entry is changed to:
[Basic\SafetyCameraAlertTextRed]
"FontColor"="RED"
etc.
Your current speed will display in red.
Unfortunately, I don't know why the camera speed limit is not displayed. |

It is just a text file with a .cfg extension rather than .txt, so can be opened and edited in notepad. |
