What's wrong now ... my Mio C710 shows the following error when I try to get into MioMap?
FFUIERROR: CODE=8
What can I do to correct it? |

I'm not following your thoughts ... I'm fairly new to this and the error message has thrown me.
How do I tackle what you have suggested ... another recent thread explains that I cannot connect to my C710 because it fails to recognise the USB drivers despite the fact it is using the supplied software and cable. |

Your problems are not unusual, so don't panic.
As Alix has said the FFUIERROR: CODE=8 problem is usually due to an upgrade that has gone wrong. If you have been attempting to upgrade from 3.1 to 3.2 than you need to go back to the original 3.1 DVD and start again.
The USB connection can often be restored by disconnecting the Mio, restarting both the Mio and the PC, then reconnecting. If that doesn't work then go to Windows Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs. Remove anything that is related to Mio or Mitac. Then reboot and reinstall from the DVD.

Thanks for the feedback to my thread.
I have managed to solve the problem. I had been in the middle of upgrading when my PC froze on another issue, interrupting the Mio upgade. This in turn led to an obvious corruption of the Mio startup files and led to the error message. I also noted that if I removed the resident SD Card from the drive slot it made immediate connection for the upgrade to start again. Phew, it took ages but it does work now.
Thanks for your suggestions though, at least it is encouraging to know there is help out there when its needed. |
