Any one (Lutz?) know if TT6 fixes the bug whereby the phone has to be on for BT to work on a WM5 PDA?

Cheers

I've just tried it today. Got an O2 XDA Exec. Turned on flight mode and when i started TomTom 6, i got the message "No GPS Device (Flight Mode)." So in answer to your question, no. It's not really a bug to be honest. The bluetooth ariel, so to speak, will be the same one that the phone uses to pick up a conventional signal and cannot be switched on just for bluetooth. The reason for this is because flight mode is primarily for when you are in radio sensitive situations such as aeroplanes or in a hospital where any kind of radio signal could cause interference. This is my understanding of it anyway. Someone please feel free to correct me if i am wrong.

It's not TomTom, if you turn on flight mode it switches off both the phone and BT. Thats the way it is in 2003 as well. If you want to use your GPS whilst in flight mode you need a wired GPS receiver on Comm 1.

You can manually turn on BT and WiFi while in flight mode. ( I got flight mode, my WiFi SSID and Bt all showing on the comms staus bat at once. )

However, until I get a code for my replacement XDA from TT I can't check if TT will use BT when it's already on in flight mode. ( In other words does it just check the flight mode flag rather than checking if BT is on. )

TomTom only checks if the phone is off while TomTom is starting. To work around that stupid limitation briefly switch off flight mode (not mid flight of course!), launch TomTom, and then switch flight mode back on.
