Hi

What should they be to display properly? BMPs? What size, etc? I have one as a 22x22 pixel picture that worked on my PPC using TT5, but doesn't display properly as a 'big' icon when choosing the list of POI types in the "Navigate to.." main menus.

All TT's use BMPs as Icons. Up to 24 x 24 pixels. Confused

Though it was only 22x22, Oldboy?

Also Wibbly, the colour depth and palette need to be right. They used to need to be 8 bit colour, but with later software it was changed to 24 bit.
You need to check/edit your .bmp in a Paint-type program on a computer, but as there are so many different packages, I'd suggest you open up an icon that DOES work and match the settings of yours to that.

Thanks all - you know there's a 'market' for catalogue of new icons that could be hosted here ;-) Anyone with some graphic design skill [that rules me out!] want to start?

I've done a bit (alternative speed cam icons with "mobile" and "specs" under the red circle, and a "family" one for someone on the forums), and its really not hard.
It IS a bit tricky making a recognisable image out of only 22 by 22 dots sometimes - what are you trying to achieve?

It's not that hard (for me) to make an icon 22x22. But you've only got to look at professionally designed ones (look at small versions of the icons on any Microsoft application) to see clever use of shading, anti-aliasing etc.

How about icons for POI sets like:

- Friends and family
- Business contacts

Maybe the bast thing is indeed to take screen shots of icons I find in PC applications, on the taskbar, etc...

I did say 'up to ....', Andy

I think it was mainly for the benefit of the x10 Devices. 8 Bit works on mine OKwith V6.15.;)

Ah... my confusion....
So the 8 bit / 24 bit issue is hardware related, not software?

Wish I had access to one of every model, so I could get to the bottom of this. (Come on TomTom - got any freebie units? :D )
