Hi again guys. I've been using my 1st satnav (TT one v1) for around a month now, and through your help in this forum I've successfully managed to install a larger card, install the speed cams, and upgrade from 5.45 to 6.15. The unit is now performing perfectly and I'm generally very happy it. However, I'm a little baffled by the location info display at the bottom of the status bar. When I turn the unit on it quickly finds my current location and displays my street address correctly. Great. However when I enter a route, or just drive with the unit on, after I make my 1st turning the display no longer displays the CURRENT road I'm now driving along, it always shows the NEXT road. So in effect, I never know exactly where I am, I only know the name of the next road, which could be 50 miles away!

The problem is compounded as I have it set to show the next motorway. So when I'm travelling along the road prior to joining E.G. the M6, I get M6 displayed at the top & bottom of the screen simultaneously, which is pointless. Can I not configure TT1 to display my current location as I'm driving, or is this just a (major) quirk/oversite by TomTom?

Thanks as always,
Phil.

Your observations are correct. If you have no route planned, the screen displays the current road. But if you have a route planned, you see the name of the next turn.

So the question is, how does one see the name of the current road when the TT is following a planned route? Easy. Just tap the screen to display the menu. The current road is now displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Ah right got ya.Thanks Jimbo. I knew there had be a way. I still think it would be much more sensible if TT always displayed current location in the status bar. If the next road was also displayed at the top of the screen, then I would know at a mere glance, my current location, the distance to my next turn, and of course, the name of the next road. At least I would have expected such a configuration as an option in the settings. I hear what you say about tapping for the main menu screen, but unfortunately, because that screen uses a pale low contrast blue with white letters, and tucked away in the bottom right of the display, it is very difficult to read it, especially in daylight I would imagine. Hopefully, TT read these forums, common sense will eventually prevail, and provide it in a future upgrade.....Yeah right!

Cheers,
Phil.

I suggested exactly that in an email to TomTom when I first got my Go a year and a half ago.
It also crops up regularily on the wishlists (a scrolling display: "Now -- Next --- Now" is often suggested), so I'm afraid you shouldn't hold your breath! Crying or Very sad

Yeah thanks Andy. I may be a beginner, but to me it defies logic why they still haven't corrected such a glaringly obvious anomily. The other thing that really annoys me is batt charge led. Not only is it in the wrong place(it should be mounted on the front), but the Led should be red when chargin, and green when fully charged, which they still haven't sorted for V2. I'm all for wishlists, I just "wish" TT would read them!
Cheers,
Phil.
