1. Why do many of the redlight cameras in the database not have a speed limit listed?
2. According to this:
-0.18150,51.45810,"REDLIGHT:9606@70"
there is a 70 mph limit on the A3 in Wandsworth.
I don't think that's right

1) Because the speed limit data hasn't been submitted yet.
2) Now's your chance to put it right..... :D _________________ Tim |

Thanks for the quick answers!
1) Many of the unlabelled cameras are very obviously 30 mph because of their locations.
2) I will submit this and two others that I have just found.

As red light cameras are triggered by a vehicle passing through a signal set at red rather than exceeding the speed limit are indicated speeds really necessary ? |

I agree, but some of the new Monitron cameras are positioned to act as either....... _________________ Tim |

I wouldn't have thought so | Over time, it is likely that more/all Red Light cameras will be replaced by Monitron types. _________________ Jock

the aim is to 'future-proof' the database as much as possible. if we have the speed already then if it gets changed to a monitron (i.e. speed cam & redlight) and no one noices hen we already have the speed without having to wait for another submission.
likewise we aim to get the 'heading' of each camera even though most units are unable to use this yet - however, we're sure that soon enough new units will be able to use the heading data - and, hey presto, we would already have it.

Those of us with Mio units could use this data right now!.
On an experimental basis, could you include the direction info for those cameras where you have it, on a single additional download? If you could add the directional code as an additional field to the download file pocketgps_uk_sc.asc, I can update the import program to use it.
This would encourage other manufacturers to include this very useful facility. |

Good idea Sal !
Its unnecessary to get warned about cameras on the other side of the road only pointing at traffic going the other way.
As Mio have introduced this, I am sure other manufacturers will be sure to follow this lead.
It would be good to have a database that is 'direction ready' for everyone.
And as you say, its already here now in the Mio's, for those that have them.

Probably because if you trigger it - you should have been stopped. _________________ Regards

I'm just waiting for the PGPSW database to include the data (where available). Then I can make the necessary change to the MTC Builder program so that it can be imported into the latest Mio devices.
How about it guys?

Come on PGPSW as this would make the Mio the complete product. The only thing Mio would be lacking is suport but who needs them when you have people like the great Sallyann. |
