Just got a 310 and it's a little different to my Quest!!
As I understand it I use the Garmin POI loader and the Pocketgps camera list. But reading (or trying to as they are so long) the stickies, there are a couple of extra programs for changing the camera poi's. What do these do?
Do the alerts only work whilst in navigation or will they work when just in ready to navigate mode.
Had a look at the camera map help pages and they only talk about the i3. Is the info also applicable to the Nuvi? |

What works for the i3 works for the Nuvi, as both use the same POI Loader program.
The additional programs provide additional functionality, which is built into the POI Loader, but quite a challenge to use and get right.
For example, if you simply upload the camera database via POI Loader it will only alert you (and show the icon on the screen) if you are going over the speed limit - drive too slow and you won't even see the camera on the screen.
Ash's utility takes this a stage further, and will allow you to be alerted based on how far away from the camera you are (and the icon will then stay on the screen irrespective of your speed), as well as a second alert if you are speeding.
All Ash's program does is take the PGPSW ZIP file and turns it into the right sort of file (to provide these extra bits) ready for POI Loader to upload it in Express Mode (remember to set it to Feet and MPH though). |
