Newbie question about map upgrades on 910

Hi All

I just bought a 910 which is my first GPS of any kind. We are very happy with it in general, but there have been quite a lot of map issues, which surprised me as it is the newest model. The map version is 650.

I understand that at the moment the only upgrade route is to buy a whole new map for quite a lot of money. The biggest question is, how often do these map versions come out? Is the difference between 650 and 660 a week, month, 6 months, year? That makes quite a lot of difference as to whether I should bite the bullet and upgrade to the latest immediately. (Tomorrow I am driving from Germany to Switzerland and would like it to go well...)

The website mentioned an upgrade scheme but said that it was in preparation. I am keen to follow that up but I imagine I should upgrade fully now anyway, just to start on a good footing - unless the versions are very frequent and the difference between 650 and 660 small.

650 is the newest available map for the 910. The new TT1's have v660 but you can't necessarily infer anything from the numbers (v660 is newer but not sure how much newer).

Map updates are supposed to be once a year but there's no sign of one this year.

The ones you can buy on the website are often older or the same than the ones on the machines - infuriatingly TT don't give map versions on their website, but yournav have a list
