Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX N500 problems with GPS signal ?

hi, i have been using GPS of my HTC universal for a while whith no problems but my mate bought himself a Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX N500 with buit-in GPS reciever. the problem is the reciever takes very but very long time to locate the signal and sattelites. sometimes you have to wait 10 minuts or so and at the end it wont work at all. whats worse it doesnt work in buldings/venues/tunnel at all..it just doesnt switch on. can you wise people tell me if it is normal in the case of Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX N500 or is it his unit that is faulty(but i have to say my other mate bought the same device and is having excatly the same problems so i dont think it is cos of the fault in the unit). if i am in the topic of signal that is the signal strenth different in different areas eg. the signal is stronger in london than it is in plymouth ? would flashing ROM of this Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX N500 solve the problem ?

ps he was suing navigon which came pre-installed and now he is using TT5.21 if it makes any difference
