If TMC unit is just an antenna which you plug into your 910 to receive traffic reports then it should be easy enough to experiment with different antennas and not buy the "special" one. Being a radio amateur and play with antennas maybe when I have some time I can "plug" some in and see if they work since the car radio has only a small antenna that receives traffick reports then 910 will and should pick up traffic reports???. Food for thought?. Any other sugestions?.

I think the receiver is more than just an antenna. It contains electronics and communicates with the GO via a serial port.

Yes I had thought of that as there should be some filters in there somewhere but it was just something to try.

It maybe difficult to modify an antenna if the internal circuitry is different, Although I wouldn't of thought their would be that much difference between the TomTom TMC and other antenna's capable of recieving Traffic. Just the obvious connection, Might be worth someone having a go if they've got a spare antenna lying around.

Even if it cant be done I'm sure that when the TMC is finally released their will be cheaper alternative's out there. As their are with the current external antenna's.

TomTom TMC receiver is just that - an external FM RDS/TMC receiver. The only one thing you will be able to play with is a DIY connection to an external FM antenna which should improve the RF reception.

I would hope you can set it inline to the car aerial socket anyway so you dont have to have it on the dashboard messing things up (plus its another thing that the local pondlife can use as an excuse to smash your window).
