|
|
I am most grateful to Privateer who told me that TT6 will run on my HP2210 and that is probably the way I will go when it is available. It did start me wondering though if I should change to a Mio P350 because that would give a walking GPS to replace my aging Garmin which can't take OS maps. The Mio doesn't have bluetooth and it's bigger brother the P550 seems beset with problems. To get traffic info therefore I would have to buy the additional TMC aerial. Does anyone know if the Mio TMC sytem works with TT6 and is TMC a generic concept or product bound? |

Don't know the specific answer but..
TMC is a generic concept that has a "unique to each manufacturer" solution.
The TMC unit is a simple FM RDS radio accessing readily available signals. You need a subscription to the particular provider (eg TrafficMaster or iTis). The data decoded is then processed to create information about delays etc that uses proprietary location information encoded into the mapping product by each supplier (e.g. Garmin / TomTom). These are NOT interchangable.
The same principle applies toTMC info provided over a mobile phone link. _________________ Phil |

The P350 and 550 has been superceded by P360's and P560's |
