|
|
Hi all,
I have just purchased a TomTom One XL Europe and have noticed the following problems.
Firstly should you hear the short soundclip when the device is switched on? I previously had a TomTom One V2 and oh this you did. On the XL the only time I hear it is the first time youswitch it on after it has been connected to the PC and TomTom home.
The second problem is in setup and volume. If I check the "link volume to car" speed option it is fine until you switch the device off and back on again when the option is disabled again and you have to go back into options to re-enable it.
Could someone verify if these are common issues with the XL or is it just mine?
Regards,
Paul |

Yes I have that problem with an XL Europe - after power off it defaults to "not linked to car speed".
Anyone any thought please? |

I've mailed TomTom and in the past they have been quite good (yes I know no-one agrees ). I'm hopeful of a sensible reply but useful to know that it isn't just my XL.
I will post their reply ASAP. |

Dear Jim Reaper,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.
To fix this problem, follow the instructions below to download and run the TomTom Clear Flash tool.
Part 1 for Windows® users: Download the TomTom Clear Flash tool (which is attached to this email)
Right click on the attachment and Click Save.
Save the .zip file to your Desktop.
You will need to extract the files from the .zip file before you can go to step 2.
Part 2: Connect your TomTom One to your PC.
Make sure your TomTom One is off and put your memory card (SD card) into your TomTom One.
Connect your TomTom One to your computer.
Switch on your One. Your One will now be recognized by your computer as a USB device.
Part 3: Run the TomTom Clear Flash tool
Windows users, either:
Double-click the file ClearFlash.exe, which is on your Desktop.
Or:
Double-click the file setup.exe, which you extracted from the ClearFlash.zip file.
Select your language.
Read the licence agreement. You must select I agree, then click
Select Install TomTom Clear Flash, then click
When the installation has finished, the message Installation complete is displayed.
Now please try the option again.
With Best Regards
The TomTom Customer Support Team |

Sorry to say it did not work. Another mail to TT support reveals that they have “currently no fix for this". They have suggested returning it but I am reluctant because I don’t think this is a “one off” as there are several more similar posts. I’m hoping it’ll be addressed in a future update providing TT accept that there is a problem. I don’t think enough XL owners have complained or perhaps not even noticed.

As I'm sure comes as no surprise the same problem is evident with the 720, along with a host of other even more irritating problems. I am going to get my third 720 later, not bad for 10 days of ownership
There is a reported firmware update for the 720 floating around, I am waiting for some more info to see if it fixes anything!! _________________ Chris

Some of the 720 functionality will be the same as the XL I suspect. If they update and repair this problem on the 720, they will hopefully be able to quickly decompile, mod and recompile the XL version.
Even more annoying is that the volume of the safety camera warnings is also affected by this fault.
Rather loud and irritating in a 20 mph traffic jam! Didn’t realise how much I depended on this feature on my faithful Classic. |
