Ihave had a garmin for several years and had the Nuvi also and like to be able to search for specific fuel stations, and search for lets say a travelinn or travelodge in.. timbuktoo. but the TeleAtlas maps are useless for this.

Why has the Rider got Navteq?

Does this mean that these maps using the loading software can be put onto a tomtom go?

anyone any comments on my opinions?

Cheers
Dave.

searching for what you want does not depend upon the maps but rather the POIs that the sat nav unit maker puts on the units. Nearly all units allow you to load your own POIs and their are plenty of POI databases available - just click on POIs further down and on the left of this screen to see some of what is available..

The most common format of these POIs is in that used by TT - ov2. I am told that the new TT software (6.15) has the ability to search for POIs near any town you specify.

So all in all I suspect TT now offers what you want.

Yes but if you try using a garmin, or the Tom Tom Rider and compare it to any other TomTom you will see what i mean.

My Nuvi allowed me to search for travelodges in my area, then listed the address and phone number. With the teleatlas maps it does nothing like this all you get is a very small number of hotels with no contact details, only an option to route to. The TomTom Rider work like the Garmin as this uses navteq maps!
