Help i've messed up my i3

i tried to update my i3 using mapsource and it deleted the software on the satnav and now when i connect it doesn't recognize it it doesn't on when i press on button unless i connect it to the car HELP i spend like 200 on it and need some h=elp and cud i get help how to install the disk i bought Garmin City Navigator V8 off ebay help thanks in advamce

If it is only working when connected to the car what is the charge state of the batteries? - put a fresh set in.
Next try a reset of the device, press and hold the two buttons and the thumb wheel for 10 seconds, this will reset the unit (with the unit switched on).
