been to a computer fair today and one of the traders had it running on the new vario 2.he did not have it for sale so i think it was a genuine version but would not let on where he got it.
my first impressions were that there is not much difference to version 5.
the things i did spot;
a lot more colourful-the menu screens stand out better with a lot more colours.
faster startup-seemed to start an awful lot quicker than my 5.21 version.
navigate to contact is now in menus.
navigate to latitude and longitude has returned.
there was no "rotate screen" function in menus.
there was something called "arrival time" in menu.
the bloke also said something about the speed display,it also shows the speed limit of the road you are on as well as current speed?
from what i can remember the map version was v650.
i dont know how much of an improvement there is but im opinion it doesnt look much different.
MODS-feel free to delete any of this post if ive said something i shouldnt have. |

from the usual sources of pirated software I presume - a cracked version appeared even before the official version. |

Had a quick look, seems my Mitac Mio 168 isn't on the compatibility list even if it does work the 168 doesnt have a screen rotation facility that I know of..........
Looks like a new device and TT6 may have to go on the Xmas present list |

The list keeps being amended. The Mio 168 and P350 have just been added. The reason I noticed is that I was planning to buy a P350 to replace my aging HP2210, and when I first checked, it wasn't on the list, but it appeared the following day

Hi Folks
I didn't think I was going blind in my old age but try as I might I cannot see the compatibility list of PDAs for TT6 on the Tomtom website. I have looked at the 'TomTom Unveils TomTom NAVIGATOR 6' site but cannot see the info anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction please? _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Pocket PC 2002 devices will not be supported any more.
TTN6 no longer offers screen rotation within the program. This means you cannot use WM2003 devices in landscape mode any more.
I don't like either of these "improvements". All they do is force users to buy newer devices - or to abandon TomTom (which I would totally understand) _________________ Lutz

It is NOT worth upgrading from version 5.21 if you have it. The new features do not justify it. Unless your a die hard technophobe who has to have the latest there is nothing in this that is worth your cash. It should be a free update like v6 was for the Go and ONE devices.
Yes there is no rotate screen option. You need to roatate the screen in your OS first before you start tomtom, so 2003 Second Edition and WM5 users are fine (I have a key setup to rotate mine).
There are many cracked versions out there which is how I got a chance to play with it. Latest maps, latest postcode. If your planning on ignorning all the advice and buy it anyway you really will be dissapointed. _________________ Visit Wayfinder Life for all your Wayfinder Navigator needs |

don't see the point in cracked versions either as you can't use it to it's full potential _________________ TomTom 5001 |

Hi lbendlin
If I was to abandon Tomtom what other programme comes even close as a rival. I agree that things move on and its quite possible that there are other GPS programmes that are better. On the other hand it would be quite easy to spend a load of money and land up with a programme that was far worse. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

cracked versions work to their full potential just fine, even plus services work I believe, traffic, voices and all the rest.
How did version 6 get to the cracked sites before official release? who knows, could be an inside job, one of the press copies posted out, is it the final version? is it an early pre-release? Not got a scooby. Im just glad I didnt buy it like I planned. Im going back to my 5.21. _________________ Visit Wayfinder Life for all your Wayfinder Navigator needs |

i'm getting the upgrade just because of the single map of europe. one feature i've been waiting for since tomtom 3. others are a bonus. the speed limit information on significant roads is a big plus too, for me. i hope tomtom will add small but practical improvements in the future like automatic day/night scheme. as i understand it from the tomtom support site, they are providing version 6 as a "free update" with map purchase, and that existing tomtom customers will get a map update discount. i am still counting on this (fingers crossed). _________________ tomtom 940 live/tt active dock holder/tt rds-tmc traffic receiver usb |
