I couldn't really say that I've had problems with signal loss on my Q1 but it has been an ocassional issue, especially near trees or near high buildings.
Anyway, I wouldn't have bothered paying out much money for an external antenna but today I found this.......
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=A47FH&DOY=27m8
For a tenner, I thought I'd give it a go. I've only tried it in the car so far but there was an immediate visible increase in signal strength on the GPS info screen of the Quest.
I'm off to France on the bike in 3 weeks so I'll give it a good testing then, but so far so good. Based on initial results, if anyone's having signal strength problems, I'd suggest giving one of these a try.

Interesting, so they do exist.
None of the Maplins shops I've tried know anything about their GPS antennas. |

After breaking the flip-up antenna accidentally, I have brought NT-555 (GBP 9.99) from Maplin Brighton (the guy working there has been very helpful) in June and I've been using the external antenna since then with no problems at all.
And it seems that the signal being received is much stronger than the flip-up antenna. |

Maplins!! Made the 20+ mile journey to Cheltenham believing that the stock control reporting on their web site was telling the truth (4 reported on stock). The members of staff there were helpful and one in particular knew exactly what I was talking about, even knew the price off the top of his head, went to get one from where he had previously seen them only to arrive at the locked cabinet containing the GPS kit to say "that's the space where they normally are, sorry we're out of stock". ![Stop it!](modules/Forums/images/smiles/custom15.gif) _________________ Chas

Thanks, have now ordered a Holux one from eBay, should arrive tomorrow. Was a little more when P&P was taken into account but not as much as the gallon + of fuel I burnt going to Cheltenham. _________________ Chas
