I am considering the C710 and read lots of good things here. *But* how restricted in terms of updating/modifying things are you if you don't run Windows? I see someone has done some things with an iMac.

Secondly, after trying unsuccessfully to plough through 23 odd pages of topics, what this forum lacks, and others here have, is some sitcky "how to's".

Apparently one can load at least one additional voice. Despite reading lots of posts on how successful or otherwise people have been in doing it I have yet to find *where* the darn file is downloaded from. The "approaching roundabout" file mods and "bear left" mods are other examples.

I know that it will take time and effort, but starting out with a virgin box there is no easy way to know *what* can be changed nor how to bring that change about. Eventually I imagine to would reduce the repeated question syndrome. It seems to work well over on the Nuvi forum.

Hi,

You should have no problem using a Mac.
The interfacing with the Mio is done via bluetooth.

cheers.

Actually I never said *I* used a mac - I am a *nix guy. :-) Thanks for the positive feedback though. I take it the bluetooth backdoor opens the file system.

In a way...
If your bluetooth stack has a file explorer software, than yes.

cheers
