Does there exist a GPS s/w and map tool that will enable me to add non-existent roads?

I'm currently using TomTom maps that are over two years old. I don't feel like I should have to be completely helpless, waiting for them to update the maps that I need. There should be a 'start drawing new road' function, where I can simply drive the "non-existent" road, and have it add that road to the map with whatever name I provide. Does such a thing exist?

It does exits, but not for TomTom. None of the major navigation system providers have any financial interest in what you want to do, it would mean they would sell less maps. It does not make sense from a business point of view.

There are some open source map projects , and a few of them can actually produce Garmin compatible maps. But the results are still very far away from being usable by the general public, they are only good for techies.
