On Page 38 [ User Manual ]

"black with a red cross means there is no connection with the GPS device, which should never be the case with a built-in GPS your device has"

since yesterday, after a mis adventure with the DATA.ZIP file and I have restored the original one back, I have noticed the above.
However , the fast blinking green lamp is there [means that there is communication with the GPS and data is being received]

manual states this should never be the case. Do I take it as a bug or that DATA.ZIP swap has done something to the unit ? Has anyone else seen this icon in the GPS data quality indicator ?

Hi miomio,

i recently returned a c510 as faulty due to this problem. When this happened to my unit after charging, it could no longer lock onto any satellites. There was also a red exclamation mark next to the satellite icon on the cockpit screen.

Umm... I just understood from adifferent forum that this is a 'bug' and no faulty sustem. at least for the c710.
so , still in two minds, but I shall try contact mio support (even if it's a far cry)

Hi miomio,

glad to hear the problem with your 710 is only a software bug,
but i can assure you the 510 i had was faulty. The unit could not lock onto any satellites (hence no gps signals & no routing) and the gps screen just stayed blank, no bars or flashing lights, nothing.
