Which model? Most of them already have it.
If your model doesn't I doubt you can legally add it. |

Probably an original GO. Version 4.4!!! Probably never been updated...
The first thing you need to do is to update to something vaguely recent. 5.440 or 6.15.
As to whether it's possible to get postcode search on that model I'm not sure. |

The upgrade is free you can get it from HERE - before you start doing any of this make sure you have a full back-up of the card on your device, without this if it all goes wrong there is no way to recover the situation.
The upgrade will only give you the new program, it will not load the postcode data as this is a seperate file contained in the map, map upgrades would include this - these cost money - Mike |

The original GO has a small 128MB card and the new system may overfill it. It should have room if you delete some foreign voices. but the best thing would be to buy a bigger SD card and copy the original card to it before you play wiht the upgrade.
You may be one of the lucky ones that has a CD with backup copies of the maps. You can fall back on this if you have problems, but a full backup copy of the card should be made to a folder on your PC as it's easier.
Also the original Go came with a separate map of the main roads of Western Europe on the CD. You could copy this to a bigger card as well as the GB map. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

me to search part postcode
I do have tomtom on my PDA hat has full postcode search
Is there any files I can use from my PDA or TT5 CD to give
me full postcode search now?
Thanks in advance

The full postcode search was added to the original Go when the maps were updated.
To get this you wil have to buy updated maps as the postcode database is licensed. |

IF you remove the software from the PDA, you are allowed to use it on your GO, provide you have not activated twice in the last 180 days.
It's easiest to stick your TT5 SD in your GO (or install everything from the TT5 CD if you have the CD set with maps), and then install GO app 6.15 on it. Then start up teh GO, and enter your new activation code. _________________ GO1005

256 will do, 128 is also in the new models but space is very tight. If you ever intend to buy other maps, then a bigger card might be worth getting, not much difference in cost

The link worked when I posted it, it would appear the tomtom web site is undergoing maintenance so when it is back up the link may or may not work - will have to try again later, when the site is put back on line - Mike |
