Hi, i bought the tom tom 1 for my wife yesterday. Its her birthday today and as she is starting a new job on monday, i thought it would be very usefull. I have had the tom tom 300 for nearly 2 years now and would be lost without it. Anyway, when i gave it to her today she was overjoyed. The first thing i did was to copy some of the postcodes and pois from my card onto hers, but it would not reboot. (just a white screen)I did all the usuall stuff ie- reset button, reinstalling her sd card without any of my poi and finally i reformatted her new sd card and just reinstalled her original files but still had no joy.
I finally gave up and returned it to the shop and got a replacment. To my horror the same thing happened when i tried to use my existing sd card in her new tom tom 1.
All i get is a white screen when its switched on.My version is 5.000 and hers is 6.15. does this make a difference? if so, can it be fixed?
Any ideas please? |

You tried to boot an ancient (5.000 is *very* old) copy of TT on a new machine? It's not surprising it wouldn't boot... it probably predates the existence of the TT One.
Someone else not long ago tried something similar and trashed his ONE doing that.. it seems that with the wrong combination of software you can break the ONE requiring a repair/replacement... that's probably a bit of a design fault really..
Similarly your postcodes would not have come from the same version so would not be necessarily compatible. The TT One has postcodes already.. not sure why you would want to copy them.
Copying POIs would work.. nothing else is likely to work especially between different OS versions. |

My wife would like some of my celebrity voices and pois on her tt1, so i bought a new 1gb sd card.
Could i just add all her details from the tt1 sd card and new voices etc onto the 1gb sd card. Would this work ok on her new tt1 as i am on my last chance here and dont wanna see another white screen.
please help thankyou. |

Why don't you just leave it in it's original state for a couple of days just to make sure everything is working ok. I'm sure your wife will manage without new voices etc for a couple of days. Make sure you do a full backup before you start tinkering with voices etc so that if it does go wrong you can at least get it back to a working unit. _________________ TomTom Go 910 (3) v.6.522 Map Western Europe v.650 with useless TMC receiver
