Evening all!

Anyone come across this Chinese GPS device? Seems a neat unit but requires Com port 8 Outgoing whereas the XdaIIi only offers Com6.

Has anyone any experience of using GPS with this Phone/PDA? ny help appreciated.

Why do you think that Com 8 is such an issue? - it is the PDA/ Phone (in the case of the IIi) that dictates the com port, the GPS unit is dumb to this, so long as it is capable of NMEA which both the PODO 620 and 630 are capable of then you should be able to use them with pretty much any software. One question though why such a choice for the GPS unit, are these easily obtained in the UK? - Mike

Thanks for that.

I picked one up today for £39 at a PC fair. The instructions are a bit vague and stated Com 8. Looking at some other forum entries since your reply, I found that one can set it up as a cable connected GPS unit. This seems to work ok and the unit picked up the sattelites pretty quickly.

The unit seems quite good using a rechargeable Li-ion phone type battery and has an external antenna connection and external power supply for use in the car.
